Running Boards

You can also try different bolt plates in different positions to see which ones fit easier. I found that some fit into one hole but not another. I did the best I could until I got to one left that I hammered a bit to get in.
That s strange about the pipe in the way. I did not have have any issues at all with the brackets, everything fit fine except for that one bolt plate.
My boards do not stick out, they fit just perfect. Strange that yours do not.

Just finished the installation. For those who is planning to install the Running Boards, here are a few experience that might help.

1. The 10mm bolt plates cannot fit into the front and center on passenger and driver side. Total of 8 X 10mm bolt plates that will have problem. Two options:

a. Make the Manufacture hole bigger. If you do it outside, most shop will likely go this way. i.e. drill the holes bigger or hammer the 10mm bolt plates into the holes.

b. Cut the 10mm bolt plates to allow it to fit into the hole. You will need a power metal cutter to do this.

I opted for option b to avoid drilling hole. See attached picture for the cut 10mm bolt plate. See picture 1.

2. The Passenger Side Front support bar cannot be installed. It was blacked my some pipe. See pictures 2 and 3. I decided to not install this piece and I hope it is ok.

3. The Running Board is about 1.5 inches too long for the QX60. Not a big deal. See picture 4.

I hope this information will be useful for others that are planning to install.

Jasper.

Hi
Been awhile since I checked the boards but here goes.

No you don't have to jack the car up, I didn't but I am sure it would make it easier but still doable.
Just needed a wrench set, socket set and maybe a hammer if the "L"brackets don't quite fit into the holes, I had to hammer some for the last "L" bracket, go figure that would happen.
Maybe a flat head screwdriver to pop the plastic plugs off? I was able to use my fingers but could see you needing it if it's stuck.

Good luck, took me about 2.5 hours only because of the mentioned issue above. No problems about 1.5hrs
$500 installed, I would do it for you for $250. Haha j/k

Picked up the running boards at buffalo. I do have to unpack the box to fit it in the trunk because I have 4 passengers and luggage.

I check with at least 4 mechanics shops at buffalo and none is willng to install the running boards. I finally found one that is willing to do it, he quoted me for US$540 for installing fee. He claimed that they need to 7-8 hours to install it.

I am bringing it home to Canada now. I will try to do it myself in the next couple days.

For those whom did the self installation, do you have to jack up the car for installation? Or, is there enough room for you to craw under the car to do it? Also, what kind of tools do I need (wrench only or more)

Thanks to the op of the post. Finally pulled the trigger and purchased. Been looking for awhile but the on car pics helped me decide on these.
Took about 4 hrs to install by myself.
1. Yeah will be missing 2 sets of 8mm bolts like everyone else pointed out. Contacted the Amazon seller and they refunded me some cash as getting it from the manufacturer would take at least 8-14 business days.
2. Be careful on tightness of the small bolts that connect the run I Gerard to the brackets. Torqued one too tight and broke the screw bolt. Had to make another trip to get a replacement.
3. The "L" brackets that slip into the holes on the car itself, one was just a bit too large to fit into the hole and spent about 1.5 hrs trying to get it to fit.
4. Last tip, organize all the screws bolts washers lock washers ahead of time. Saved me some time by doing that a day before I actaully did it.
