Hi,

Today I tried to open my tailgate by pushing the button on top of the licence plate and it did release the lock but did not go up, it did re-lock after a second or two. I manually opened it and tried using the button on the bottom of the tailgate to close and nothing happens (other than setting the desired open position when I hold the button down for a few seconds and get the 2 beep confirmation. I then manually closed the door and it did power lock the door.

If I use my key FOB to open it works to open and close.

If I use the button under the steering wheel it works to open and close.

Any ideas what is going wrong?

There is a switch that turns the poweliftgate on and off with all the other switches to the left of the steering wheel. I don't know if it totally turns off the automatic lift function but make sure yours is on. Just my first idea...

What Paradox said. You bumped the Power Lift Gate switch with your knee one day getting into the car. It is in the "off" position. Switch it back and the gate will work normally. This is a pretty common thing - I warn all my clients about it when I deliver their car.

Also, there are two buttons above the license plate area on the outside of the liftgate - one to lock / unlock the car, and one to open the tailgate.

Hello,

I seem to have the same issue with 2017 qx60. The liftdoor makes few beeps and tries to open but doesnt and locks again.

Any ideas what could be wrong? And how do I manually open the door?

Thanks
Try resetting the position it opens to you can have it open halfway or all the way or anywhere in between. I think you hold hold the button for like 10 secs but can’t remember and open it all the way. If it’s not that then it’s the shocks on the lift gate as it needs the help of those to lift it.
