Did Infinti make the right choice by supercharging the 2.5-liter four cylinder engine in the hybrid model? Would a turbo setup be better?

yes, turbochargers tend to kick in more in the higher RPM's, superchargers don't. Since it runs off of a belt thats connected to a pulley on the engine it's a more consistent stream of power.

Turbo.

Superchargers depend on the engines crankshaft to do it's job while turbochargers uses gases the engine already gets rid of.

I actually wonder why Infiniti went with supercharging. I wonder if there was any specific reason.

Yeah I heard the same thin for their upcoming Q30 might be using a supercharger with the electric motors. Not sure why they would start using them now, if there is any real benefits.

The supercharged engine is actually taken from Mercedes for the QX60. The supercharger is better for low end power as well as torque, which allows for the QX60 to still be able to tow 5000 pounds. Since the QX60 has a CTV (continuously variable transmission), the supercharger allows it to produce around the same power as the V6 model without having to spool up before it gets there.
