Stop Engine But Leave Radio On / Phone Connected?

13101 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mahtx2
Is there a way to turn off the engine yet keep the radio powered, similar to the a.c.c setting in keyed ignitions? Our other car is push start/stop and it does this. If I am on a call and pull into the garage to finish it, I lose the blue tooth connection when I turn off the engine. I'd like to keep talking hands free and finish the call.

There is another thread on this topic. The answer is "no."

You have to keep the engine running to stay on a phone call or keep the radio playing.
To me it's no big deal to turn the car off and tap the on/off button once again with foot off the brake to turn the radio back on. And as for the phone, if I'm not finished with my call when I want to turn the vehicle off, on my iPhone I just go the audio source on the phone, which is the main screen showing when your talking on your phone, and switch it from the car to the phone. It's one tiny little extra step. If you plan to talk on your phone or listen to your radio in the car after turning the engine off, you're subject to the car turning the power source off after a few minutes anyway to preserve the battery life. I've driven Infinities for 8 years, and I truly think you get a lot for your dollar investment compared to other vehicles in this class.
It's a big deal to me :)

It's stupid little things like this that diminish the otherwise exemplary experience. And it's why Infiniti doesn't rise to the level of its competitors. Too bad, really. It's the details that matter in this price range. It's also silly where the heated steering wheel control is and that, when remote starting in the cold, the steering wheel heater doesn't turn on.

Yes, first world problems!
how can you tell if you have a AWD can't find
I'm very happy with my QX60. No vehicle will come equipped with exactly everything you want. But I think Infiniti has the edge with their styling. The new MDX lost its sports look when they lowered and lengthened the vehicle. The Lexus RX350 still looks almost exactly like the 2004 RX330 I owned. But the QX60 is classy with lots of chrome and the interior sold me. I might have to look for the heated steering wheel button, but it's my favorite feature in my QX. My only disappointment is that it doesn't have the DRL pretty little bulbs. :(

It's noted in the VIN number, and it is on the window sticker. I made a copy of my window sticker and put it in the glove compartment in the event I ever have to have it towed. But I did even one better than that, I went to Amazon and ordered a small stick-on metal plate that says AWD, and applied it on the back under the QX60 letters. I tried to order one from the dealership but they didn't have one that they thought would look right. They are the ones that suggested I look on Amazon's website.

Or very good lighting, in general. I'm also really happy with my qx60... But nothing is perfect.

I came from an Escalade (even farther from perfect!) Which had the heated steering wheel button in the right place (on the steering wheel) and kept the radio/bluetooth connected for a few minutes after turning off the ignition. It had great headlights, too.

Otherwise, lots of disappointments, so it pains me that my new 2014 vehicle falls short in these areas where my 2007 succeeded.

Overall, however, miles better in most ways, and as a package, for sure.

You can always stick your head under the rear bumper and look for the axle.

Yes, that's true. However, it would have been nice if Infiniti would have put an AWD badge on the car so people wouldn't have to stick their head under the rear bumper to look for the axle. I'm a woman, and wouldn't know what to look for anyway. :)
