Hi all,

Just picked up a new 2014 QX60 base model 2 weeks ago. And noticed the 3rd row seating have speaker shell on both side but no sound coming out of it. Tried to adjust Front/Rear speaker setting but only change the 2nd row speaker. Just wondering if any QX/JX base model owner can also confirm that as well?

I believe you get the back row speakers in the premium package on both the JX and the QX60 when you get the Bose system. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Correct. 13 speakers for the Prem package and 15 speakers with the Theater package. Base model is 6 speakers.

The 15 speakers would come in deluxe touring, not the theatre package.

While we are on the topic, I have the 15 speaker Bose system, but can't seem to locate the 15th speaker. Here's what I've found so far:

front: 7 speakers (2 in A pillars, 3 in dash, 2 in doors)

Backseat: 4 speakers (4 in the rear doors)

Third row: 2 speakers (2 in D pillars)

Rear cargo compartment: 1 speaker (bass waveguide unit)

So by my count that is 14. Does the wave guide count as 2, or is there a hidden bass module under the front seat console? I give, can't find any info on the system. Sounds great regardless.

You are correct. I only look at one of my option that had the 13 speakers. Didn't pay attention to my other deluxe touring upgrade that has the speakers upgrade. Was paying attention more on the other more obvious upgrades.

I have done a bunch of aftermarket stereos throughout my early years as a car fanatic. It would really depend on what exactly you wanted to do (coaxial speakers, component speakers, amps, subwoofers, etc.). Also, money plays a huge factor in quality of aftermarket audio as well, because you could spend $500, and you could spend thousands if you wanted competition sound.

Do you have experience with any other premium audio systems?

Had Bose Sound systems in my last two family cars, a 2010 Enclave and a 2005 Acura MDX. Sound quality wise, the system in the Enclave was similar to the one in the QX60, they both sound great and have good clean bass response, and both are superior to the Bose system in my 2005 MDX.

I don't have experience with other brands, so I'm partial to Bose

Not bad, Bose is great, had a few vehicles with their systems and have yet to be disappointed.

I believe there are 2 subwoofers. no idea where they stashed the 2nd one.
