Oil Change

Its about 6 months since I got my 2022 qx60. About 2000 miles. Do infiniti dealers charge you for oil changes and it is recommended during the first maintainence visit? Anyone had infiniti recommend anything else on theirs for the first visit?

Congrats on your 2022. The previous gen had a 1,200 mile break-in period. Since the new 22's have the same engine, I recommend changing your oil since you're past 1,200 miles or ask the dealer for an updated figure.

I didn't think the 22's had free oil changes for the first few years, so you'll likely need to pay or do it yourself.

Anyone do a 2022 oil change yet? I haven’t seen any you tube videos and don’t know where the oil filter is.

The same place like before but now you have to remove bottom plastic protection first.
Got ya. I’ll look for YouTube videos for the old QX60 to find the same place as before. Thank You.

Previous gen oil changes were super easy, I hope the new 22's are the same.
My 2020 QX60 owner's manual shows the first and subsequent oil & filter changes at every 7,500 miles.

Of course, dealers tell us 3,000-5,000 miles to generate revenue and sell us other stuff. One dealer website even showed a picture of what they called "dirty oil", which apparently is common in Direct Injection engines. That doesn't mean the oil needs changing. Infiniti needs to get control of those folks.
FYI, decent video on a 2022 Pathfinder oil change, which I assume is exactly how you’d do a 2022 QX60 oil change.

Great video, unfortunately, Infiniti/Nissan added all those PITA splash guards with a bunch of screws/plugs. My M35 had 18 screws before accessing the pug/filter.

Overall the filter and plug look to be in the same place (same engine so I would have assumed the same).

BTW, 2023 QX60's come with a couple years of free oil changes.

I know! I just saw a video on it. Kinda pissed ofd, actually. I woulda held off buying for 4 months to get 3 years of maintenance.

And with my Nissan Maxima, I don’t think I’ve ever changed the oil through the drain plug. I use a fluid extractor and suck it out through the dipstick. The oil filter is a little of a PITA, but I can access it from just inside the front axle with only undoing one fastener, and without lifting the car. Fingers crossed this car is as easy.

My infiniti app show 10k miles interval oil change, dealer told me need 5k miles when he want to sell me the maintainance package. I refused him and bought my inifiniti online from another dealer 300 miles away.
Mine(2023) has 3 years service and maintenance free, I got the car 10 days ago and now they are including 3 years service and maintenance for free. My Infiniti app shows 10K miles next service, did not get the chance to ask the sales about the first oil change. I need an answer to this question as well.

I’ve always thought those oil extractors looked kinda cool, but since I have to get underneath to unscrew the filter, I might as well unscrew the oil plug…. My only concern is how to tell if the extractor gets to the bottom of the oil pan.

It’s my understanding you can use three oil changes anytime you want, you just get a total of three before 30k. I’m still trying to decide if I should maintain a 5k oil change cycle (and use up my three by 15k) or move to the recommended 10k.
