No you don't. Just turn the wheel out and you'll be able to get to the filter. You'll have to remove the plastic rivets and pull the cover back. Sounds harder than it is.

Very good point, turning the passenger wheel to the right till it locks and then jacking up the car should be the solution you're looking for.

Are you replacing with an OEM filter or happened to find something from a brand like K&N?
