I remember this being discussed over at the jx35 forum but couldn't find it here.

Nissan is issuing a recall of about 1M vehicles including the JX35 and the QX60 because the passenger airbag may not deploy.

Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

SUMMARY:
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Altima, LEAF, Pathfinder, and Sentra, model year 2013 NV200 (aka Taxi) and Infiniti JX35 and model year 2014 Infiniti Q50 and QX60 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the occupant classification system (OCS) software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

CONSEQUENCE:
If the OCS does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger airbag would be deactivated. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

REMEDY:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will update the OCS software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in mid-April 2014. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to Home | Safercar -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Thanks for the update!
I didn't see the recall on my safercar. gov app when the QX60 is queried, but it does appear in the main website - 2 recalls - one for reprogramming ABS last year and the other for updating OCS software for passenger airbag issue
Yeah, there was a TSB for the airbag issue last year for a certain amount of JX35s but I think this one is for all of them now.

I think the dealer updated the software on my car, but I still get the malfunction.
that sucks, too bad it wasn't limited to a specific production range like before.
I brought my JX in twice for the problem but because the Vin didn't show under the original recall, they just re-calibrated the sensor. It seems to be fine after the second re-set. This is recall is going to keep Nissan and Infiniti busy for a while. Hope their sub-contractor for the defective part has good insurance.

It will be interesting to see what part needs to be replaced and what the down time will be. Looks like a trip to the dealership for some good coffee, goodies and a loaner.
Finally! I had a feeling this was going to happen... see my post a few weeks ago:

I'm trying to convince the dealer to give me a loaner car for a weekend since I've postponed a trip to the mountains because of this airbag issue - infact the service advisor told me to not go on any long trips and the part was supposed to be in originally within a week (it's been 4 now)
This recall won't be active until April. And as far as I know, it is just a re-calibration of the sensor. If you own a vehicle affected by the recall, you'll get a notification from Infiniti sometime in April.

Not a lot of news here. I've had one or two clients have problems with their airbag light going on when they had a light passenger.
Guess what??? The light is coming on again when I have a front seat passenger. I'll have to keep an eye on it until the car goes in for the recall. At least my file at the dealership shows the problem was addressed twice.
I have owned my qx60 for 5 days and the passenger air bag light off keeps coming on when my girlfriend or I are sitting in the front seat. This is disheartening. As a city dweller and for other reasons, this is the first car I have ever purchased in my entire life and it appears there is a faulty part which my lead to a recall. Disheartening.
This is a pretty big safety issue in my opinion... not knowing for sure if the airbag for the passenger is going to activate or not in an accident...

I have taken my QX60 in twice and second time they said the part needs to be replaced (sensor in seat). That was almost 6 weeks ago now. Latest ETA from the dealer yesterday says 3 - 5 days. (Thats what they also told me 6 weeks ago).

Starting to get ridiculous.... wonder how this recall affects my SUV since I'm already having the part replaced.
I never looked but sure enough today I had my mother in my qx60 and the light was on that the airbag was off while she was in the passenger seat. The little problems I am having 2 months into ownership are disheartening as well. I buy a new vehicle to not have to goto the dealership, especially a pm expensive infiniti. I enjoy the vehicle but with these problems showing up that I've had I will not buy another infiniti in 3 years.
So an update - I had the software update done as part of the recall, and had the occupancy sensor or something replaced as well. However the issue didn't go away.

Now the yellow 'Passenger airbag off' light seems to come on when I start the vehicle after my wife is already in the passenger seat. Sometimes (4 out 6 times) the light goes out within 2 min... but the other day it didn't for the entire 30 min trip on the highway.

So now the dealer said they checked with their technical service department in Toronto and their recommendation is to replace the bottom of the front seat... not sure which part exactly. Hopefully that resolves the issue.

I noticed they have similar recalls for the Q50 - must be either a new part supplier or faulty engineering/design that reduces the functionality of the occupancy sensor in the seat.. disappointed because the SUV has been in the dealer for this issues 4 times (not counting regular service)

Anyone else still having an issue with their front airbag?

I never had the problem. But now coming back from a normal inspection sticker replacement at the dealer, I came home and the airbag light started blinking with the yellow light on in the center stack. Even if I sit there (175 lbs), the yellow light is still on and the red airbag light on the dash is blinking. We have roughly 30k miles.
