I have a 2017 QX60 with 2016 maps. Just got the email to get version 11 for $109. Can't find any information on the extent of updates or even when v11 was released. Would it be worth updating?

Yes, I can use my phone but do like the convenience of the Nav if it's mostly up-to-date (which the 2016 is not at least for the region I am in).

Depends where you live. Are there lots of new roads being built? Where I am, they almost never build anything. So definitely not worth it. If I'm stuck, I'll use my phone. And I only use my phone for POI stuff.

South Florida definitely gets a lot of construction so I'd consider a 2019 or 2020 map upgrade. But I'm waiting for the discounted price they were doing before that I missed by being stupid. I think it was $99? I'll wait!

I upgrade about every three years. I had the 2013 JX and now have the 2016 QX60. I upgraded last year and didn’t see any of the new roads or their revisions updated which was similar to the experience with the JX. I find Google mapping much more accurate.

Installed v11 this morning. Map info shows a Fall 2018 date. The license key required to be entered after swapping out SD cards is printed on the receipt page -- wasn't clear from instructions. Install was immediate with no need to keep car running afterwards.

Got an email back from HERE maps and v11 was released October 2018. He said they update every 12-18 months.

I received a map-update letter, and current DVD-version is showing v11. Strange that v11 was updated in Oct 2018 and it’s still current. I wonder if the DVD’s are behind.

BTW, it’s going for a low low price of $129.. so no deal here.

Don't bother! It is not worthy at all. I just bought one and install and type in the address that the current version does not have. Nothing shows up in the latest version 2020 either. The map does not look any different from the old one. And the worse thing is that you can return it either. I feel that it is a waste of money.

For reference, I updated my 2013 map last year (to the 2021 version) right before a Florida road-trip. No notice UI differences however it’s nice to finally have updated freeway/local neighborhood streets.

I recommend holding off until you’re about to head out on a trip, then add to your vacation expenses. I don’t think it’s worth updating for around-town driving since your phone can easily bridge street gaps.
