We test drove a 2014 QX60 and my wife was surprised at how soon the front camera view changed to NAV again. Is there any way...even an after market mod...that would allow them to stay ON? During the start of the test drive she bumped a small curb getting out of the dealers parking lot. No problem, but it would be nice if she could have kept it on longer before it switched. Isn't that the whole point of these camera(s)?

I just sent them an email to see if the front camera can stay on. I did not see on their site how to install it. I would think if it is that easy they would give the instructions.

Thank you for the info.

Brian sent me a reply in a matter of minutes!

He said that the front camera was on a different module and would not work, but the 360 degree overhead view would. Is that working for you? I know the Nissan has that but not sure what it is called in our QX60.

He also said he would send me the instructions to look at. Has your dealer discovered this or do you turn it off before bringing the car in?

Yeah, before buying it I had sent an email and he answered me within minutes as well. Great company imo and the install wasn't all too hard, but you have to be the kind of person who doesn't mind taking things apart and putting them back together.

I remember using mine to watch the overhead 360degree view while on the higheay but wasn't sure about the front cam so good thing he knew off hand. I'll try it tomorrow anyway but I am sure he knows.

As for taking it in to the dealership... When you install it you have the option of hooking it up two ways. One where it tricks the car into thinking emergency/parking brake is always on or where it operates normally and only sees it is on when you actually depress the pedal and have it on. I did mine so the car thinks it is always on so if I want to watch a movie on the front screen while parked I don't have to actually put the emergency brake on each time.

The only thing the dealership could see that would make them think something is 'up' is if they run a diagnostic not on the car but on the center stack or the audio system (something like that) they would see the e-brake is on even when it is not. It's not something they do under general maintenance so it's not s big thing from everything I've read...

Great...he did send me the install instructions. I do like to tinker...and am about to build another computer with Black Friday Parts...but I have to admit that pulling the trim off looks like something I may want to think twice about!

I did try mine this weekend and while on the highway you can view the rear and 360 degree cams but the front one doesn't display.

If you decide to go for it it really isn't hard to do IMO, but I did find having the trim tools helped. You can can get them cheap at harbor freight if one is near you or that site that sells the kit has them for like $4 more than making the trek to harbor freight.

Well, there is a Harbor Freight we always go to. I will see what I can find but never saw a trim tool. Can even look for them online, but never heard of them before. :)

5 Piece Auto Trim and Molding Tool Set

Link above, they're $7 there or if you order the bypass kit from car kit company I think I paid $10 for their trim tool kit shipped with the bypass kit. Theirs may be from harbor freight as well but they worked fine so for the extra 3 bucks if you're ordering the bypass kit anyway...

Edit: Yeah, theirs are $10: http://www.carkitcompany.com/other/tools
