still one of the most confusing name changes in the industry.
along with the BMW naming scheme.
along with the BMW naming scheme.
They're both pretty simple if you ask me. BMW is simple, sedans on odd numbers 1,3,5,7 and coupes on the even numbers 2,4,6.I think that the BMW name change was even more confusing. At least with INfiniti they changed the vehicles to names that they hadn't been before. It was weird that BMW changed model names to names that already existed as other BMW models.
The BMW naming scheme is the most confusing. Just random letters and numbers. It is really difficult for the customer to keep track of what's what. And its not like it helps them organize the BMW line-up conceptually at all.
Yeah it seems like they decided to change the whole model naming strategy a bit too late, im sure they would have changed it if they could of.It still puzzles me why they came out with the JX35 last year and to change it to the QX60 this year. You'd think they would have considered that when the car came out.
Yea but would you of been more puzzled if Infiniti came out with the JX last year as the QX60 while still having the QX56 in the lineup (now QX80)It still puzzles me why they came out with the JX35 last year and to change it to the QX60 this year. You'd think they would have considered that when the car came out.
Adding more letters and numbers just confuses things, it's best they keep it where it's at now with the new naming system. It's not that hard to understand.I think that part of what is confusing about the naming change is the similarities between the new system and the old system. Both use 'X's and numbers and other letters. Its hard to keep track of what each new name corresponds to under the old naming scheme.
Infinitis makes more sense than BMW's though. I don't think having sedans on odd numbers and coupes on even numbers is a very good system. It isn't very intuitive. A simple suffix to the end of each name would be more obvious. Just put a C or a S at the end of the name to denote sedan or coupe. OMG, it's so simple that it hurts.
Agree. The only time another letter should be used if it has to is to specify a model as a convertible or something like that. For example.... Lexus ISc, c = convertibleAdding more letters and numbers just confuses things, it's best they keep it where it's at now with the new naming system. It's not that hard to understand.
Plus they had to pull the new naming system name from somewhere right? I guess 'Q' and 'QX' just sounded and looked right, because from how I see it, it sure does.I think that part of what is confusing about the naming change is the similarities between the new system and the old system. Both use 'X's and numbers and other letters. Its hard to keep track of what each new name corresponds to under the old naming scheme.
