Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and I wanted to share how I cast from tablet or phone to my 2016 Infiniti QX60 rear displays. So I purchased only 1 cable and 1 wireless adapter to make this happen.

First I purchased an isimple HDMI to RCA cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LUX1F5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sb0bFbS5BSVKM

Then I got a Microsoft wireless adapter V2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C9YTI9S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mc0bFb0RGQZ36

I plugged the isimple cable into RCA ports then adapter into the isimple cable and the USB in the center console to power it.

All I had to do next was use smart view on my Samsung devices and boom! Now on other phones and tablets it may have a different name then smartview but same concept.

Here are some pics! View attachment 6129 View attachment 6130 View attachment 6131 View attachment 6132

I cant tell in the pictures, but you must have to plug it into your phone as well right? I want to be able to play movies from my phone to the screens in the back for my kids. I want to make sure I buy the right adapters.

Thanks!

SEE IMPORTANT NOTE AT THE END

I did the same thing using the below items:

HDMI->AV connector adapter

USB-C hub

The reason I went with the USB-C is to allow for HDMI output while also charging the device via USB-C. It also adds USB and SD card support to add additional storage to the device.

I use VLC as the media player as it handles just about every file type you can imagine and handles external storage well. Since this uses a "screen mirroring" approach, the aspect ratio is a little off (since my device is wider than the 16:9 headrest displays). Also, the video will not show on your device, but will play ok on the headrest displays, while still allowing an adult in front full control.

It's a little janky when going down the road, since the NAV display doesn't show the video and you can't see it on the source device, but it does work. I just ask my kids "is it playing ok?"

IMPORTANT NOTE
Your device must support video out via USB (also called OTG) for any of these solutions to work. Many mid-range devices do not support Miracast or video out via the USB port. Any Samsung device that supports DeX will, for sure. Pixel devices may work with a hub, but not other direct cables. Apple devices will require a "Lightning Digital AV Adapter"
