When you exited, was is up hill? Sometimes when you are going up hill the 2-3 gallons you have will go to the back of the tank and if the sensor is in the front, it will think the tank is empty.
I have had this issue repeatedly. My fuel gauge will swing dramatically high or low. My QX60 has spent 6 days at the dealer and they do not have a solution. The factory here in Tennessee had the dealer perform lots of tests, but has not worked out a solution.Folks,
Just noticed something weird yesterday. On my QX60 I have been getting consistent 22.2 to 22.6 miles/gallon average with BP Premium fuel (mixed city/highway driving). I also normally fill up when my guage is around 1/4 tank mark. Yesterday when I was exiting the highway, I looked at my fuel guage and it was at the 1/4 mark. I came up to a STOP light and all of a sudden my "Fuel Low" indicator popped up and my fuel guage went from 1/4 full to past the Red Mark to empty. I had the dash display set to indicate miles driven, miles to empty etc. and just before this happened it said 56 miles to empty, but all of a sudden it went down to 0 and then --. The car still continued to drive and I stopped at the Gas Station that I normally fill gas and I filled 16.801 gallons of fuel. I believe the fuel tank capacity is around 19.5 gallons ... so just curious if I have a bad fuel guage sensor or is this just a one off thing?
Anyone else observed anything similar to this?
Thanks!
Hi. Our qx60 is feb 2014 production which we picked up march 2014 first week from alta infiniti in Woodbridge Ontario. With 3000km on it at present we are experiencing inaccurate fuel readings aswell. It fluctuates often. Yesterday we called alta Infiniti in Woodbridge Ontario and explained them the situation. They booked an appointment for next day and told us they will run diagnostic which will take them 1 hour. This morning when we arrived at alta Infiniti, lady at service desk told us Infiniti is aware of this issue and there is nothing we can do today, we will get back to you in 4 weeks time. I was like when we called yesterday and explained you guys the situation you would have told us over the phone about this.I have had this issue repeatedly. I have been told by the dealer that Infiniti recognizes some of these vehicles have fuel gauge issues but they do not yet know how to correct it. My dealer has told me that there is one other person they have sold to who has the exact same issue.
I suspect there will be a recall at some point.
