Fog light help!

18681 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  FatBikeGuy
Hello all,

I just picked up my qx60...which considering 65K $ I spent on it has the lamest fog lights ever...

I understand from the forum that the fog lights are H11's...has anyone considering swapping them out for super bright led's?

Here's an example of what I mean....
30W H11 LED headlight with 3000LM-in Lights & Indicators from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com

Any thoughts/advice?

Thanks from northern ontario

Since no one responded... I took a chance and ordered some nice LED bulbs from Ebay. The difference was well worth the installation. The fog lights are much brighter and a crisp white colour. Very happy.

Nice! LED is definitely the way to go .
Even car makers are using LED headlights, coming from high end projectors.
Were they relatively easy to install and did you have to modify them to fit, or were they just plug and play?
Bob,
Most bulbs are plug and play. based on the link, and bulb, it looks like the heat sink just stick out behind the fog assembly. I doubt there's anything there to block the extra heat sink.
Here's a similar pair from VLEDs.com

I generally agree that the lights on the JX/QX60 is pretty poor compared to other luxury vehicles.
I agree. My wife drives a 2012 Acura MDX...every single front end light is vastly superior to what I have on my 2014 QX60.

As for the installation of my new LED fog lights...they were simple plug and play...no ballasts or anything like that. I was able to switch them via the wheel well (by removing 6 hex screws)....sadly I have the scraped knuckles to prove it :))

Regards
No, I did my fog lamps without removing the wheels.
yeah overall these are easy enough for just about anyone to do.
doesn't the owners manual outline how to do this install?
Nope. All I did was turn each wheel fully to allow access to the front wheel well panel.

:nerd:
Have you changed any other bulbs to LED, that's what I want to do with my lame interior lights, and every other one possible, specially the reverse bulb so I can see better backing up.

Any pictures what they look like, especially compared to stock ones?

Also, did you change your headlamps to match (6000k)?
There's a plastic fairing underneath held on with push pin fasteners. Remove them, remove the panel, and then remove the little wing panels on the sides the say way It's easy.
