Fog HID upgrade

Upgraded the fog to 6000k HID. She finally used them the other night and claimed they turned off part way home, but she shut them off when she got home so when I went out and turned them on they worked. Anybody do this upgrade and have a issue?

could be a variety of things.

use the fog lights more often and pay attention to if they are on or not.

if they turn off sometimes there is a problem with the install

either faulty bulbs.
faulty ballast,
faulty harness

or the ballast is not receiving constant reliable power

did you use a relay kit?

could be a faulty relay (most of the case for me)

Relay is usually the first thing everyone should check with an issue like this. If not the relay sometimes the ballast is just faulty
Did they both turn off or just one side?
good question. that would help figure out what it is.

If both of them turned off and your relay only has ONE relay. Its probably the relay. If only one of them is turning off. Well then.. Its probably the ballast on that side. .
They worked all the way home for her the other night. When she had them on it wasn't completely dark, and they need adjusting. So I'm going to adjust them this weekend. No I didn't put in a relay, wasn't necessary and I've never needed in the past.

I can vouch on no-relay too, every single time I installed HID kits without a relay, just straight plug and play!

But having a relay is always a good idea, maybe something to consider?
well if one of them turn off randomly it could be that the kit isn't getting enough AMPS from the stock harness.
In that case a relay is needed.

Just saying. If there are problems with the bulbs not turning on it could be that you should run a relay.
I ended up just taking them out and replacing them with the Sylvania 5k. Those work just as good without the hassle.

shame. personally I think a relay might have solved the problem.

I've always hard problems getting the fog light HIDs to work properly without a relay on many newer cars.

The stock harness just doesn't deliver enough amps and these digital ballasts just shut down.
mackvallyk1k2 - is banned. Thanks guys
