DRL / Side Mirror Integrated Turn Signals

Hello,
I am a newbie owner from NJ and I have my deposit on a 2014 AWD white / Wheat as of last weekend and I am hoping to pick up my vehicle this weekend.
My choices came down to 2014 GX vs the QX60 and the value proposition and an outstanding deal just trumped it for me.
For someone who researches cars very meticulously, I pulled the trigger without checking the following basic features:
DRL – No DRLs on the QX60 correct?
Side View Mirror Integrated Turn Signals – No available on the QX, correct?
I also noticed 3 or 4 LEDs in the headlamp cluster and the dealer was unable to tell me what they were - Can someone please help explain what these are?

Cheers.

Congrats

Yup, don't need those silly lights anyways. It's only 2014. You should be asking if the current HID system is as bright as other cars at 35W. It's not deadly dim by any means. but just not like Acura or BMW or other Infiniti bright.

The jewel clusters around the HID are there for looking nice and doesn't do anything.

I did notice that the russian version of the QX has turn signals on the side fenders over the wheel well. Nope, don't need those things in the US. We have our nice forward facing only humongous incandescent bulb.
If someone's on your side and you turn on your signal, hope you have blind side warning lights for yourself. that car next to you won't know you're coming.
Thanks, Thorin...
Looks like I hit a home run with this car then? Hopefully, this will be the end of the peeve list and the vehicle behaves otherwise. Picking up my car Saturday....
Cheers.

Thank you, qx60! Will do!! Dealer has committed to delivery tomorrow. Time to clean up the garage and make room for the yacht!! I was getting away with real estate issues with my M-class that I am replacing but qx is going to be a whole another story! Well I guess it is not a bad compromise, to give up DRL, integrated turn signals for that use able 3rd row and still driving a premiumish brand...
Cheers!

At least they have committed to that! On the plus side the things you're giving up aren't that significant when it comes to vehicle ownership, the QX60 should still be able to put a smile on your face.
Thanks, Guys!
Other than these, I only had good things I saw with the vehicle.
• Same 0-60 as a GX (depending on what forum you read, they claim the infi to be anywhere from 7.7 to 8.2 vs the GX @ 7.8) but *feels* faster due to linear acceleration.
• Really seats 7 on short trips with easy entry and exit to 3rd row on both sides regardless of missing the MDX power switch - No lady would complain of a wasted trip to the nail salon, thanks to the entry / exit mechanism.
• Spunky styling (I was not willing to wait for the 2015 Q7 so this is the best looking in the 7 seater segment for now IMHO)
• Very uppity interior and even trumps if not gives the GX a run for it's butter soft leather and $15K more price tag. The seat details and logo are a nice additional touch
• Plastichrome Lexus and Acura interior vs partial Plastichrome interior in Infi with some chrome rings- that's a tie at worst
• Looks less industrial than the GX with its vertical dash vs. the sweeping flowing dash layout
• Courtesy handle lights vs Acura Puddle Lights - Another tie
So, all good things except for DRL, dull HIDs, no integrated blinkers and noLED strip.
The way I see it, I can do the HID upgrade and LED upgrade aftermarket, spend $600 and pocket $14400 against the GX. Nothing much to complain, not to mention I have always wanted the wheatish Nissan Interior since 2003.

I will post pics after the delivery.
Cheers!

My baby is in!!! Update on the LED cluster: it actually lights up and it is so subtle and blends with the hid blue that it is hard to spot.
I will post pics soon.
I am increasigly falling in love with the qx with each additional mile!!
It came as a pleasant surprise that it is actually more likeable than I thought originally.
And the triptronic seems to do something actually and it feels a lot different than the standard torque mapping.
Now are we sure there are no DRLs?? I wonder that is what the LEDs are for and I actually saw one of the sites report havind standard DRLs...
More feedback soon when I go home for the weekend.
Cheers!!

Case in point for LED cluster in headlamps:
Please refer to second pic in the link below:

You will see the individual LEDs lit up...
Cheers.

Can't see it very well. But I think it's light scatter from the HID. Unless they updated it for 2014.

HI Thorin,
It is definitely not Scatter but Infiniti *DID* confirm no DRL. I will take a pic this weekend and post it. EVen infiniti is unable to answer this - Now my curiosity is piqued :)
Cheers.

100% positive there are NO LEDs in there, in those jewels, around the headlamp projectors.

Many cars have aesthetic notes that appear like LEDs but theya re in fact now. Prius does it too, they appear to be LEDs in a strip, but in fact they are just plastic aesthetics which do nothing. The Volt had rings around the projector headlamps that appear to be 'angel eyes' but they were again, plastic rings just for aesthetics.

Foolish of infinity to not put some kind of led drl's on the jx35/qx60 but oh well.
Thanks, Paradox! That helps clear the confusion!!!
I will try taking a pic with lights on and post this weekend to close out the thread.
Cheers.

Ok - I took a pic of the LEDs I am talking about - Trying to attach them now...

There are two pics where you can see the LEDs clearly, besides the headlamp bulb...
As mentioned, there are no LEDs in there. You are seeing light being reflected off the chrome of the housing sourced elsewhere, either the parking bulb or headlight.

Turn the lights off and then use a flashlight to look at that area, you will see no LEDs in that place. It is an area of chrome with multiple rounded bumps in the area, and again, light is being reflected off of the area.
Showing where the light you think are LEDs is really being reflected from.

I hope this helps you understand what you are seeing
