Replace your transmission fluid on a regular, consistent basis, especially Infiniti CVT's.

It's a common belief old transmission fluid helps because the metal friction aids clutch plates. However, this applies to standard transmissions. Your QX60 has a CVT with a metal belt that stretches over time when the CVT fluid overheats/wears out, leading to excessive failures. To prevent your transmission from overheating, you need to frequent fluid changes.

Use only NS3 Nissan fluid for CVT transmissions. There are several alternative CVT/tranny fluids on the market but none clearly state they fully support Nissan CVT specs (I've searched this for years since the fluid is ~10/quart). I've found eBay to be a cheaper alternative than buying directly from the dealerships.
