The Infiniti mats aren't bad and are a good fit. I do have them, but they are always covered with the WeatherTech All Weather cargo mat which is a plastic mat. Since I always have two large bowling bags or golf clubs back there, I like the way it protects the mat underneath.

I'm going to a carpet place tomorrow and getting a piece cut and binded, they don't charge very much for "scrap" pieces (about $1 sq/ft).

I like what my Highlander had, a factory cut carpet (same material as the floor mats) which completely covered the cargo area. I can live with similar color carpet in the back.

After considering input from the folks here on the forum and over at the JX forum, I ended up getting the Infiniti Cargo Area Protector (mat) and the Weathertech floor liners... a very good combo I feel. I like the Infiniti Cargo Area Protector because it folds nicely when the 3rd row seats fold together or independently (big difference between this and other Cargo mats/liners. The Infiniti Cargo Area Protector has a fibrous/carpet-like top with a rubberized bottom. I'm pretty happy with it. I bought mine at the Tysons Corner Infiniti in Vienna, VA (around the DC Metro area) due to their discounts.... (Auto Parts Specials in Vienna, VA | Infiniti of Tysons Corner or INFINITI OF TYSONS CORNER)
I purchased in person and received the 20% discount whereas online folks can get 25% off. It was the cheapest anywhere I could find at the time (a month ago)

My only criticism is that both the Infiniti Cargo Area Protector and Weathertech floor liners are thinner than I expected or like, but I don't think it will be a problem (hasn't been yet) since I won't be doing anything extreme with them... just wished they were a little thicker. But again, very happy overall.

So you use the WeatherTech mat, to protect your Infiniti mat, that protects the carpet? That'll do.

You should have gone with a 70's deep shag brown carpet. Woulda been way cooler.

I tend to haul a lot of things in the back and the WT cargo mat protects the floor. When I'm carrying a full load of passengers, it comes out exposing the Infiniti mat. I didn't want to store the Infiniti mat so it has a permanent home under the WT. My wife insists on putting WT mats on top of the original mats. I really don't get it. You don't get any more money for them when you trade the car in. Got to keep the little woman happy.

LOL - understand completely. You have to pick your battles. But if she wants you get a carpet remnant to put over the WT to keep it from getting scratched....
