I carefully followed the break-in instructions for my 2017 QX60 by carefully accelerating the engine, not exceeding 4,000 rpm, smoothly breaking, etc. I had an amazing experience with the 3.5 liter V6 in my 2006 FX35. I was also careful during break-in. The manual says the break-in proceedure is 1200 miles. I now have 1300 miles on my car. I'm hoping the meatal surfaces in the engine have meshed well including seating the piston rings in the bores. My question is; shouldn't I discard the oil now since it contains micro particles of metal? The manual says 5,000 miles?? Any thoughts?
