2014 QX60 AWD Towing Capacity and Requirements

Hello, we have a 2014 AWD QX60. I am having a very hard time figuring out the towing capacity. My dealership tells me its 3500, 3 other dealerships say its 5000. The internet provides both numbers on various sites. The manual says 5000.

Does anyone know with certainty? I do NOT have the hybrid, which is what I believe the 3500 relates to.

Second question - is there special equipment I need for towing beyond installing the hitch? we are planning on getting the factor hitch that integrates into the bumper. But we've had the dealership tell us we need upgraded brakes as well, although I can't find any evidence of that being a requirement for the towing capacity or it even being offered as part of any sort of towing package offered by infiniti.

Please help - it shouldn't be this difficult to figure all this out. Thanks!

On a 2020 the factory does not seem to offer any towing package other than, hitch harness etc. including the offer of a brake wiring harness (if your trailer has brakes) interface. Rated for Class III towing which is up to 10,000 lbs there is no way this car will pull that. I’d say maybe 5k watch the tongue weight. Nissan rates a loaded pathfinder platinum for 6k.

Read pages 10-13, and look at the placard on your car, that’s the only way to be certain.

Thank you all for the info! I've compiled all the numbers and am going to post another question in a bit, as it doesn't fit into this thread. Thanks!

I have a 2017 AWD. I purchased the trailer hitch from Etrailer.com along with the wire harness. It comes with everything you need including the screws. Installation is pretty simple and straight forward.

I tow my boat, a 20 foot bay boat and it does very well. No issues at all. Right out of the water.

Good luck.
