OBD2 scanners and software: which ones do you use?

I've been thinking about picking one up to peek under the hood of my F150, but I'm not sure what to get, price versus performance and all. And what about a good app for my phone/tab?

I have used Automatic (https://automatic.com) for years on my 2013 JX35.
I have been very happy with it's performance.
Weekly, monthly and yearly vehicle performance reports, trouble code notification and interpretation.

I use the BlueDriver LSB2. It costs about $100 on Amazon. The free app is really good IMO. It reads/resets codes, offers suggestions on what to fix, creates pdf reports, runs continuous engine on monitoring, model recognition based on VIN, etc.
