Anyone Painted their Brake Calipers?

Looking to see if anyone has tried painting their Brake calipers? I know it doesn't change performance but I do believe it would improve appearance over the factory unfinished calipers.

I have considered having them powder coated red but 1) the calipers are pretty ugly and not sure I want to highlight them and 2) I am concerned that the car will get "all show and no go" chuckles by passers by.

I painted mine a couple yrs ago. Turned out pretty good, but was time consuming. I traded my QX60 for another one and put my old rims on it. This time I bought caliper covers , but Im not really happy with them. I think I'm gonna paint them instead. What do you all think. Here's some pics.

tdoro27, love your rims. What are they?

I painted my calipers and rotors black. Wanted to hide some of the rust showing on them and didn't want to go red since this is not a sports car. I've painted my calipers in almost every car I owned, this was no different. It takes time, simply because you have to take off tire, clean, paint, wait for it dry, then put tire back, and repeat. And even then I wait several hours before driving or avoid driving altogether for a day.

Thanks Nemo. Wheels are made by Velocity, 22" on Nitto 420s 265/40/22. the caliper covers look ok from a distance but when you get up close, it looks cheap even though they were costly.

Do you have a full body pic with the rims? Interested to see how they look on a QX.
